We told everyone we were going to California but we were really going to Iowa to surprise our family and play in the snow.
We got about an hour and a half outside of Albuquerque when we came upon a HUGE snow storm. We turned around and drove (10mph) back to Albuquerque to spend the night at a Marriott.
We really thought we were going back home but after listening to the weather reports we decided to take off and go the northern route.
We woke the kids and took off for Colorado, Nebraska and then IOWA!!

My dad ran outside to meet us. After 20 straight hours in the car.
And 3:30am we arrived and Amelia woke Nanny singing Rudolph...
At first she was scared.
Then she started liking it.
It's been snow and fun ever since...

Sorry that one of your sisters and your niece are missing! Love that you are so close yet so far away :) Scott you are my hero for driving all of that way for your wife and kids (except Katie's 45 min. in NM) :)

I'm trying not to be a wee bit jealous that you drove thru CO. Maybe next time you can drop off the Kelley klan on your way!! Have a safe and fun trip! Make sure the kids make snow angels and remember NEVER EAT YELLOW SNOW!
but you can make flavored slushies with the clean stuff! YUM! Be safe...

so Katie, i think you guys NEED to come SURPRISE me in singapore soon ok? how does Christmas 2008 sound? or June 2008? then we could celebrate Amelia's birthday, your birthday and mine... i promise to look very surpised when you show up with kids in tow.... =)please?
